The social distancing Easter event is getting underway.

First Lutheran Church of Shelby is following up on a community teddy bear window display effort with a new initiative as Easter approaches.

"We know there are hundreds of bears in the windows of our community and all we are asking you to do is to add some Easter eggs to your window display," a Facebook message states.

"You can scatter some plastic eggs around your bear, you can put big Easter egg decorations by them, you can even dress your teddy bear up like an Easter egg if you like, but we are challenging our community to take the awesome bear hunt and upgrade it to an even more awesome Easter Egg Bear Hunt," the announcement goes on to state.

The church described the effort as a community wide Easter egg hunt of the safe social distancing variety.

"Help us to keep the fun of Easter in the hearts of our community's children," the church's message states.
