The Shelby Farmers’ Market is introducing another vendor, Della Newport.
“Longtime resident and Shelby High School graduate class of 1967, Della has been a market vendor since 2015,” farmers market manager Aileen Stewart said in an email. “Della is a woman of many talents offering pepper jelly and strawberry rhubarb spread, pot holder towels, microwave bowl holders, adult size bibs, casserole cosies and rope bowls and coasters.”
Newport originally made rope bowls for her children, but quickly decided the public would enjoy them as well and her career as a craft vendor began, Stewart reported.
“It’s interesting to note that each coaster contains 5 feet of rope and each bowl between 10 and 12 feet,” Stewart said. “When asked if there was anything else Della wanted to share with readers, Della simply said, “Shelby is a good place to live!”
The Shelby Farmers' Market runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays to the first Saturday in September at the pavilion area in Black Fork Commons.
