Pioneer Career & Technology Center BOE met Monday evening of the 15th to discuss the year-end activities. At the Awards Assembly, over 2 million in scholarships were given to the students.
Approval of employment for next school year, to replace retiring personnel was discussed and approved. The board approved the job description for an in-school Detention Aide. The person will be teaching the students when in detention. An agreement with the Northeast Ohio Network for Education Technology Program of the Metropolitan Regional Service Council was approved.
An agreement with the State of Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction and Adult Education was approved. Anyone who has six months left of their term will have the option of earning certification in welding and a high school diploma.
Linda Schumacher, Treasurer, reported all property taxes have been collected. An ARP Grant of $16,000 was received under the “Homeless Grant.” The money will be used to remodel the “Ready Room.” It will have a shower, washer and dryer, and a restroom added. This room will be used for any student who needs it. Also, the “Sharing Closet” will be housed in the “Ready Room.
Schumacher also reported the five-year forecast is on target at this time of year. The hearing on the Rover Pipeline has been delayed, so no amount is known at this time. Donations from Jim Weist, (Michael Byrne Mfg., Mansfield) $500., Ruth Klenke, (Henderson, Nevda) $2,000.,Dr. Thu LePhan, (Shelby) x-ray film cassettes and x-ray film $171., Casey McKinney, (Stone Creek Dental, Ashland) dental supplies worth $200., and Dawn Wright-Smith (Blackbaud Giving Fund, Charleston, S.C') $45., were accepted.
The PCTC Board of Education meets on the third Monday of each month at 7 pm in the Board Room.
