The Willard City Schools Board of Education adopted a resolution at its April 6 approving the termination of bus driver Rosalie Keesy. It was a unanimous decision by board members.
Keesy had been on paid administrative leave since a June 28 fatal crash. She was driving a bus owned by the Willard City Schools when she crashed into the rear of a vehicle stopped on Ohio 162.
According to the crash report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Keesy was distracted by “other activity with an electronic device.” There were no children on the bus at the time.
C.L. Jones of Greenwich was getting out of his truck at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Keesy had minor cuts and abrasions and was treated at the scene by EMS and released.
On Feb. 21, Keesy appeared before Judge Eric Weisenburger and pleaded no contest to negligent homicide. She was found guilty and fined $300 and costs and sentenced to a suspended jail term of 90 days. Keesy was also placed on two years probation and must show completion of 150 hours of community service within 120 days.
