Willard police provided an update on the case.

A 44 year old man has been charged in the suspected homicide of a Willard woman.

According to Willard Police Chief Shannon Chaffins, Javier Estrella Lopez, Willard, is in custody and is being charged in connection with the death of 45 year old Margarita Roblero-Perez.

Chaffins said police received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 10:21 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12 reporting a stabbing. The stabbing had occurred in the 600 block of Wessor Drive. The caller, Chaffins noted, advised a male had stabbed a female at that address.

When officers arrived, Chaffins said they found the female victim inside the residence. The male had apparently fled the scene in a SUV. The female died at the scene.

The suspect was later apprehended in Sandusky County by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office after a pursuit that ended in a crash. Chaffins said Lopez was transported to a Toledo hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is still in the hospital.

Chaffins said the incident is still under investigation. Assisting the Willard Police Department in the investigation is the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Sandusky County Sheriff’s Office the Ohio Attorney General’s office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Willard Fire & EMS and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification.
