Helping hands at Shelby tennis courts
Relatives of Shelby High School tennis players took the courts on Thursday, Sept. 23 to try and get the hard court surface dry so that the team could play its home match against Ontario. Working with leaf blowers in wet conditions were Bob Deane (blue jacket) and Larry Hicks. Deane's daughter Aly Deane and Hicks' granddaughter Mollie Eith are Whippets tennis players. Other volunteers later joined Deane and Hicks through efforts to sweep standing water off the tennis courts. The match ended up getting postponed by the rain.
