Shelby’s Nicole Jones finished with a two-day total of 143 with rounds of 72 and 71.

MARION — Shelby’s Nicole Jones tied for first place in the 16-19 age group earlier this past week at the 45th annual Ohio Junior Girls Golf Championship contested at the Marion Country Club.

Jones finished with a two-day total of 143 with rounds of 72 and 71. Annika Manjunath, of Dublin, equaled Jones in the 16-19 age group with a 143 on rounds of 73 and 70.

Rounding out the top five in the age bracket were Mary Kelly Mulcahy of Lima (148), Audrey Ryu of Dublin (148) and Chloe Tarkany of Bay Village (149).

The overall winner was Cara Heisterkamp of Westlake with rounds of 68 and 70 for 138.

A scorecard playoff decided overall placing and Jones was third right behind Manjunath.

Another local, Sarah Hoak, had rounds of 99 and 94 for a total of 193.
